BRIDGEWATER CANAL, BARTON AQUEDUCT

Due to ice Barton Aqueduct will remain closed until Monday 6th February

BRIDGEWATER CANAL, WORSLEY SANITARY STATION, WORSLEY VILLAGE

Notice is hereby given that due to vandalism the sanitary station at Worsley is closed until further notice.

The nearest alternative sanitary station is at Bridgewater Marina in Boothstown.

The Company will arrange repairs of the facility as quickly as possible.

BRIDGEWATER CANAL, TRAFFORD ROWING CLUB HEAD RACE SATURDAY 18TH FEBRUARY 2012

Notice is hereby given that Trafford Rowing Club will be holding its annual head race event on the Bridgewater Canal between the Bay Malton Public House (Seamons Moss Bridge) and Marsland Road Bridge Sale on Saturday 18th February 2012 between 10:00am and 4:00pm subject to weather conditions.

Delays of upto one hour may be experienced by pleasure craft wishing to transit this particular section of the canal between the above times.

Pleasure craft owners are advised to be particularly careful whilst transiting the area and to allow additional time for their journey. All persons in charge of pleasure craft are asked to comply with any signs or instructions given by the Marshals who will be stationed at strategic points on the course.

BRIDGEWATER CANAL, BARTON AQUEDUCT, ANNUAL MAINTENANCE CLOSURE 2012

Notice is hereby given that Barton Aqueduct (situated on the Leigh Branch of the Bridgewater Canal) will be closed to navigation during the following period for annual maintenance.

From: Sunday 11th March 2012 at 4.30 p.m.
To: Saturday 24th March 2012 at 12.00 noon.


Work to the Aqueduct is expected to be completed within the specified period of time. However, due to the nature of the work the Company can not guarantee completion on the published date.

Further information concerning progress of the maintenance works can be obtained from the Company during the period of the closure.

The Company regrets any inconvenience that these necessary works may cause.


BRIDGEWATER CANAL, LOCAL RESTRICTIONS AND CANAL CLOSURE BETWEEM JOHN GILBERT WAY BRIDGE AND THROSTLES NEST BRIDGE OLD TRAFFORD

Notice is hereby given that for security reasons due to the use of Old Trafford football stadium during the Olympic Games that the mooring of pleasure craft will be prohibited from the 26th July 2012 until the 7th August 2012 inclusive between John Gilbert Way Bridge and Throstles Nest Bridge. To view a map of the area, please click here.

The canal will be closed to all navigation between John Gilbert Way Bridge and Throstles Nest Bridge on Olympic match days only. Pleasure craft wishing to transit the section on a closed day may do so but in doing so are agreeing that the vessel if required may be stopped and searched by Greater Manchester Police. The match days are:-

Sunday 29th July 2012

Tuesday 31st July 2012

Wednesday 1st August 2012

Saturday 4th August 2012

Monday 6th August 2012

Tuesday 7th August 2012

If you wish to visit the stadium on a match day and wish to moor in the restricted area then special advance arrangements through this office can be made to accommodate your request, please note that owners wishing to moor vessels within the restricted area are agreeing that their craft may be searched by Greater Manchester Police.
